Your Ascendant is determined by your birth time.

The Ascendant sign changes, on average, every two hours, but this is quite variable depending on how close your birth place is to the equator. The Ascendant, house cusps, and points derived from these points are the most time-dependent factors in the birth chart.

What is a Birth Chart aka Natal Chart?

We are all the unique (even twins+) that the moment we were born we took our first breath on a day, in a place, and at a time that the sun, moon, planets, and nodes were doing their dance in the sky. A Birth Chart – also called a Natal Chart – is a 2-dimensional snapshot or map of your story.

Laurence Hillman, and other astrologers, use the theater as a metaphor.

Imagine you are sitting out in the earthly audience watching a play acted out on the stage. The luminaries and other 8 planets make up the ten characters. How they are costumed and the props they use will be influenced by your birth details.

Now imagine that one the lead actors is your Ascendent or “Rising Sign”.

However to most, a birth chart is a chaotic jumble of esoteric symbols, glyphs, and lines. It is, quite simply, overwhelming. It has its own language and like any language or map, it takes time, energy, and patience to decode it. But we promise, it’s worth the effort.

Your Ascendent

The Ascendent is how we show up and put yourself out to the world around you. The zodiac sign energy may influence how we initially introduce ourselves to strangers. It may be all we are willing to put out as a first impression or it could be a defensive mechanism to protect ourselves. Your Ascendent may show up as your fashion flair or it can be your armor.
